Students have much to gain when they are given opportunities to
participate in various art activities using a variety of media. An art
experience involves the whole student since it involves ones mental,
physical and numinous energies. Every student of any ability has a great
deal to gain from the art program. Art is for everyone.
Art is a creative process that
demands flexibility in problem solving, and leaning by discovery. This
involves thinking, planning, composing, constructing and evaluating.
Effective art education must have many approaches and explore many
materials to provide all students with the chance to develop their own
creative and expressive potential, gain all appreciation for our multicultural
aesthetic heritage, and think independently.
As we guide students in solving creative problems, our goal is to help
them evaluate their work by appraising their own strengths and
weaknesses. As art educators we hope to help students to be more aware
of and sensitive to the natural and manufactured environment.
The desire and need to create are
basic to all people; therefore, all students will benefit from
participating in the art program.
