This basic list gives quick access to helpful information on the WWW for family caregivers; it is in no way an exhaustive list. All of the sites that have been selected are part of the WWW--they are easy to access and use, they provide very good information, and many sites link to additional resources.

Administration on Aging
This web site has a section for caregivers. The information will help you become more familiar with issues affecting older adults, and the services and opportunities available to assist them.

American Assn. of Homes and Services for the Aging
This site has a section on the role of the family caregiver.

AARP Webplace
This web site's caregiving section discusses caregiving options and includes information on and resources for caregiver support, long-term care financing, and help with home care and housing options. At the bottom of the home page there is a link to WWW Resources on Aging, chosen for their usefulness to older adults and their families.

Eldercare Web
Through a well-organized directory, this site provides access to a large variety of elder care resources available on the WWW. Links are provided to information on health care, financing and paying for care, living arrangements, aging in general, death and dying, social and mental health needs, caregivers, legislation, state and local resources, and much more.

Homecare On-Line--National Association for Home Care
This Web site provides info on home and hospice care. The consumer info section is based on their consumer guide, How to Choose a Home Care Provider: A Consumer's Guide, very useful resource for identifying who provides home care and what services are provided, who pays for these services, and how to find and select the right provider.

This official government-agency Web site provides info about Medicare and Medicaid programs, access to consumer publications and forms (e.g., Medicare Basics: A Guide for Caregivers), and local contacts.

National Alliance for Caregiving
Here you will find reviews and ratings of books, videos, websites, magazines; links are also provided to fact sheets and other resources addressing the range of issues and questions faced by family caregivers.

National Family Caregiver Support Program
The links provide you information and assistance in gaining access to supportive services in your community. You can also tap into a variety of caregiving resources, including where to find help, ways to take care of others and yourself, joining a caregiver support group, etc.

Senior Site
This site provides a listing of nonprofit senior housing, assisted living facilities, and retirement communities that are members of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Housing options and levels of care are described, and the directory for over 5,000 communities is searchable by state and by county.

Social Security Administration
This government-agency Web site includes benefit info, an online edition of the U.S. Social Security, and a number of online documents produced by SSA. Some of the information is also available in Spanish.
