Mission Statement
DISTRICT MISSION The East Longmeadow Public School District operates from a set of beliefs established in 1998, and an umbrella mission statement that permeates all endeavors and initiatives of the school district. Our district's mission statement states:
Our mission in the East Longmeadow Public Schools is to promote Achievement and Accountability in all endeavors as we educate today for the challenges of tomorrow.
DISTRICT BELIEF STATEMENTS The East Longmeadow Public Schools recognize education to be the individual's most unique and valuable asset; therefore, the school district and community have adopted the following basic principles of philosophy, called belief statements, as criteria for determining the educational program for the East Longmeadow youth:
1. All students can learn. 2. All students can be successful. 3. All staff and students deserve respect and must demonstrate respect for human differences. 4. All programs have learning as their focus. 5. The teacher is the catalyst for interactive learning. 6. Administrators provide leadership through shared decision-making. 7. Everyone can learn from each other. 8. The understanding of and respect for ethnic, cultural, intellectual and physical differences permeate all aspects of the school system. 9. The professional staff recognize and respond to the various learning styles. 10. Every child's educational potential should be explored, directed and challenged to realize the learner's optimum potential.
EAST LONGMEADOW PUBLIC SCHOOLS Integrity has no age. Honesty has no gender. Character has no color. Caring has no language. Connecting has no handicap. Compassion has no height or weight. Relationships have no degrees or Certificates.

Introduction
The Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks are comprehensive documents that require mastery of learning standards by students within given grade spans. Our district curriculum guides, which include the Frameworks learning standards, guide classroom instruction and are intended to complement that goal. The East Longmeadow Public Schools Curriculum Guides list learning standards assigned for study at each grade level and/or course. The guides may also list, for each learning standard, under "Scope", one of the following instructional focus terms: "Introduce", "Master" or "Reinforce". These three terms are intended as instructional guidelines. The terms are included in our district's curriculum to guide instruction in the manner and depth at which each learning standard is addressed in the classroom. They are not necessarily a guarantee of student achievement.
