East Longmeadow Community Preservation Committee

Minutes May 2, 2007

Present: Timothy Seeley, Chair (At-Large), William Speight (Historical Commission), Carol Johnston (Housing Authority),  Michael Perkins (Board of Public Works), George Kingston (Conservation Commission),
Michael Salvon (Recreation Commission), William Fonseca (At-Large), Mary Ellen Goodrow (At-Large)

Absent: Louis Calabrese (Planning Board)

The Committee met at Pine Knoll at 6:00 pm and toured the site.  Many of the structures are in poor condition and the site is not fully accessible.  DPW and the Recreation Commission will write a proposal for improvements to the site.

The Committee adjourned to the Town Hall meeting room where Chairman Seeley called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Chairman Seeley reminded the members that the Board of Selectmen needs to renew their membership on the Committee and that they should inform the Selectmen's office if they intend to continue on the committee.

The Chairman ascertained that everyone had received a copy of the Town's sexual harassment policy and had signed off as having read it.

The Committee discussed the list of properties in tax title.  The only property of immediate high interest is the Redstone Lake property at 36 Redstone Drive.

The Committee discussed the former railroad depot.  The current owner, Jay Lefevre, wants it removed from the site by August 1.  The Committee agreed that this was a good use of the CPA money, but will need a proposal from the Historical Commission, agreeing that the structure is of historical importance.  The most probable site for the structure is at the High School playing fields.  The cost to move the structure is unknown.

The Committee agreed to hold its next meeting on June 6 at 7 pm.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.

Respectfully submitted,
George Kingston, Secretary
