Searching
There are three good starting points. Google is great when you start with a narrow or very specific search. Yahoo's subject directory will help you narrow down your search. Try Librarian's Index t the Internet for a broad search (e.g., cancer) when you need to have confidence that the information you retrieve is reliable.

Online Databases
There are several databases available through the library's web page. (Your library card# is you password, so have it handy). One is Gale Group's InfoTrac, which provides access to articles in magazines, newspapers and reference books, many full-text. The Student Edition is for high school students, but the other collections may also be helpful, depending on your assignment: e.g., Biography Resource Center. If you love to read, try NoveList, accessed though the Online Databases page of the library web site. NoveList helps you find lists of novels in a series or by a favorite author, or books like the one you just finished and really liked. The Information Services staff upstairs would be happy to show you how to use any of these resources. Just ask!
