Principal’s Message

Mapleshade School is an elementary school serving over 300 students in grades three, four and five. Our staff, parents and community are dedicated to helping our children achieve academic excellence. It is through this united effort that we have created a safe, pleasant and positive environment for teaching and learning. We challenge each of our students to reach their maximum potential and experience the joy of learning.

We offer our students a well-balanced academic program with a strong emphasis on reading and language arts. Our students and staff are working hard to improve our math and language arts performance. We have implemented an “Intensive Reading” program at the third grade level, which is designed to ensure that all of our students are proficient in reading by the end of grade three.

While high-stakes MCAS drives much of our academic curriculum, we continue to pay close attention to the social and emotional needs of our students. In addition to the CORE academic subjects, our students participate in top-notch art, vocal and instrumental music and physical education programs. Our “We Care” program, which promotes the nine District Character Traits (Honesty, Kindness, Caring, Perseverance, Respect, Empathy, Inclusive, Courage and Responsibility) is committed to helping our children become good citizens in our school and in our community.

Working with the community, we continue to keep Mapleshade School intellectually challenging and a pleasant environment in which children can grow.
