GUIDANCE

Norma McKenna - School Counselor

Reflections from the Counselor

Welcome to all of our new Mountain View families and welcome back to all of our returning families!  It was so affirming and invigorating to see so many of you at the Open House on the 15th.  I am always impressed with the level of interest and care that the parents of East Longmeadow have towards their children’s education.  This is a wonderful place to live and to learn!

As the Guidance Counselor here, I love working with students and their families.  My job is to help all students learn to the best of their ability at Mountain View School.  Sometimes that means helping students feel more comfortable socially or emotionally in the classroom.  Sometimes it means working with teachers to resolve disputes between students or to set up plans for boosting a student’s academic achievement.  Sometimes it means helping parents find ways to work on issues at home with their children or to feel more connected with the school.  In all capacities, I work closely with students, parents, and teachers.  I am available to meet with students individually, in small groups and on occasion, in the classroom setting

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about how your child is adjusting to school as we start the year or if concerns arise as the year progresses.  I am looking forward to a great year together!
