The learner will be able to explain why understanding child development is important, recognize and be able to make objective observations, identify signs of preschooler's physical, intellectual, emotional & social development, explain how improved skills influence children's activities and self esteem.

Planning The Environment
The learner will be able to identify principles to use in planning early childhood environments, explain the purpose of learning centers and describe the kinds of learning centers in a typical preschool classroom, explain how to choose equipment and materials wisely, and identify desirable characteristics of an early childhood center's indoor and outdoor space design.

Safety & Health
The learner will be able to explain how to promote safety with children, identify safety and health precautions in the preschool setting, develop an effective safety policy, describe appropriate first aid methods for bleeding, bruises and burns, demonstrate the heimlich method under the supervision of the school nurse.

The learner will be able to explain schedules, routines and transitions and describe some considerations when developing these in the preschool setting, describe why and how common routines are incorporated in the daily schedule.

The learner will be able to describe effective teaching methods, identify creative resources for lesson plans, plan, prepare and present activities for organizing the physical, interpersonal and learning environment of a child care program and create lesson plans for the daily operation of Little BIG Kids Nursery School.
