Mission and Need

The East Longmeadow Educational Endowment Fund is a non-profit private foundation whose purpose is exclusively educational and charitable with the primary goal of enhancing the educational opportunities offered in all the public schools.

There is an important need for the public schools to have a source of funds over and above what is provided for through taxes. This source of funds can make the difference between an average experience for students and an opportunity to excel and enjoy something special in education. We feel the private sector (parents, business community, etc.), with the assistance of the educators, can and should provide these funds.

Through gifts and bequests from citizens, businesses and organizations, the Endowment provides annual assistance directly to the schools for the benefit of the students of East Longmeadow.

Each year grants are used to augment educational opportunities not provided for in the budget process. Principal is preserved through careful and conservative management and increased with continued support from the community.

Grants are awarded to fund proposals impacting students at all grade levels and care is exercised to ensure that as many students as possible benefit from such grants, and the benefits are repeated for a period of years.

In addition, the Endowment also serves as an organization:

  1. Linking the community and the schools;
  2. Providing parents with a forum for active participation and involvement in the schools and mobilizing community support;
  3. Providing a boost to the morale of teachers, the schools and and community.
