BOARD OF SELECTMEN

Monday, October 17, 2005, 6:00 P.M.

PRESENT: John Claffey, Chairman, Board of Selectmen; James Driscoll, Chairman, Board of Health; Gary DeLisle, Clerk of the Board (Arrived at meeting approximately 6:18 p.m.)

Chairman Claffey opened the meeting at 6:15 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPOINTMENTS:

6:15pm Doreen Harrison, interview; re: Council On Aging

The BOS interviewed D. Harrison for an appointment to the COA. D. Harrison cited she has always had an interest in working with seniors; that she has extensive experience with the VNA; she has moved from the Berkshires to East Longmeadow to be with family here; and wants to be involved with the town.

Motion J. Driscoll moved the BOS appoint Doreen Harrison to the Council On Aging. J. Claffey seconded out of necessity. (G. DeLisle abstained because he missed the beginning of the interview.) Motion approved 2-0.

BOARD OF SELECTMEN

MINUTES: September 27, 2005

Motion J. Driscoll moved the BOS accept the Minutes as amended. J. Claffey seconded out of necessity. Motion approved 2-0.

Motion J. Driscoll moved the BOS accept the Minutes of the Executive Session as presented.

J. Claffey seconded out of necessity. Motion approved 2-0.

OLD BUSINESS:

Discussion, ZBA

A discussion was held regarding the applicants for the ZBA. The BOS recognized that the applicants both have good qualities and hope that the one who is not selected at this time will continue to seek appointment in the future.

Motion J. Driscoll moved the BOS appoint Brian Hill as Associate Member of the ZBA. J. Claffey seconded out of necessity. Motion approved 2-0.

NEW BUSINESS:

The BOS reviewed resumes of residents seeking appointment to the IT Committee

ACTION: N. Breault to schedule interviews for November 8, 2005 BOS meeting.

Application for approval; Disposal Works Installer’s Permit, Billy Pope applicant, Excavation Plus, P.O. Box 188 Hampden, MA.

Motion G. DeLisle moved the BOS approve the application. J. Driscoll seconded.

Motion approved 3-0.

Discussion, Housing Partnership Committee

ACTION: N. Breault to coordinate procedures with the state and the committee.

The BOS met briefly with Tom McGowan, Chairman of the School Committee, to discuss possible dates to interview applicants for the School Committee vacancy. Tuesday, November 1, 2005 was selected, pending final confirmation of availability of Board and Committee members.

ACTION: N. Breault to coordinate the meeting.

MEETINGS/REMINDERS/INVITATIONS

1. Regional Boards of Selectmen Meeting, Thursday, November 10, 2005, Longmeadow.

(Place TBA). So noted.

The BOS remained in session through the Special Town Meeting.

Motion G. DeLisle moved the BOS adjourn. J. Driscoll seconded. Motion approved 3-0.
