EAST LONGMEADOW RECEIVES

 COMMUNITY POLICING GRANT

 

 

The Town of East Longmeadow is proud to announce that the Town has been awarded $38,000 through the fiscal year 2005 State-funded Community Policing Grant Program.   

 

“These funds are intended to enable police departments to develop comprehensive Community Policing strategies tailored to address the particular needs of their communities and address crime, fear of crime, and issues that detract from overall quality of life,” said Edward Flynn, Secretary of Public Safety for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in a letter to the Board of Selectmen.

 

“The Board of Selectmen support the Community Policing principles and we are certainly pleased to receive these funds to continue to improve these programs within the community,” said Gary DeLisle, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen.  “Additional resources like these help the Town to be able to do more for the community without increasing taxes and we appreciate this assistance from the Commonwealth.” 

 

The money is expected from the State very soon.
