EAST LONGMEADOW
SELECTMEN TO UNVEIL A MULTIMEDIA 2003 TOWN REPORT
The East Longmeadow Board of Selectmen has announced the Town will
be producing a multimedia Town Report for 2003.
This year the Annual Town Report will
be distributed to its citizens in CD format and can be accessed via the
Internet by logging onto the Town’s website at www.eastlongmeadow.org. It features an easily accessible interface
that provides quick access to Town Departments, Committees, Schools and
Officials as well as the Town’s financial statements, the 2004 trash/recycling
schedule, and other interesting information regarding the Town of East
Longmeadow. In addition, the CD
features a video presentation of the Selectmen’s Annual Report.
An initiative of the Board of Selectmen in order to
save the Town the printing costs of the Annual Town Report, it is thought to be
the first time in Massachusetts that a Town distributed a CD copy of the Town
Report to its residents.
“The Selectmen are exploring ideas to
save the Town money during these tough financial times, as well as take
advantage of the technology available to the Town to present information like
this to our residents,” said Gary DeLisle, Chairman of the East Longmeadow
Board of Selectmen. “We are truly
excited about this project this year and we have no doubt that this is a
creative idea that other towns across Commonwealth will soon adopt. To publish the information on the web and on
CD, it will cost the Town a fraction of what it would cost if the Selectmen
were to print copies for its residents,” DeLisle added.
The Selectmen’s Executive Secretary, Leon A. Gaumond
Jr., as well as longtime Annual Town Report Coordinator George Herrick and the
Town’s MIS Department (comprised of John Somsen and Ryan Quimby) coordinated
this project for the Board of Selectmen.
Any residents requiring printed copies or alternate format Town Reports
should contact ADA Coordinator Leon Gaumond at 525-5400x420.
