ELCAT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The Board of Selectmen today announced that it is seeking volunteers for East Longmeadow Cable Access Television, (ELCAT).  ELCAT is the Town’s public cable access station channel 5 on the Charter Communications cable line-up.  Any resident interested in learning how to operate camera, sound and editing equipment is encouraged to apply.  The skills gained will allow volunteers to assist in the broadcasting and taping of Town meetings and events, and in producing programs of local interest.

Residents interested in volunteering can contact Gerri Gagnon, Executive Director of ELCAT at (413) 525-4220; or by email at: ELCAT@eastlongmeadow.org.  ELCAT is operated out of the High School at 180 Maple Street, East Longmeadow.

Training in the use of equipment and production techniques will be provided.  Volunteers will be asked to operate the equipment to broadcast meetings of the Board of Selectmen and other public meetings as necessary.

Chairman John Claffey said, “The Board believes that communication through ELCAT and other media is important in helping to keep citizens informed.  The call for ELCAT volunteers is critical in fulfilling that need, and we are hopeful that the response will be strong.”
