PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST ANNOUNCED

 

The Board of Selectmen today announced it is sponsoring a Town-wide photography contest.  Town residents are encouraged to submit photographs of the Town of East Longmeadow that answer the question,

“What makes East Longmeadow stand apart as a unique part of Massachusetts or New England?” 

 

Residents can submit one photograph for consideration to:  Board of Selectmen’s Office, 60 Center Square, East Longmeadow, MA 01028.  Entries will be accepted until Friday, September 16, 2005.  Contestants that wish to have their photos returned need to indicate this on the back of their submission and include a self-addressed envelope.  Entries will then be on public display in the Community Room of the East Longmeadow Library until Tuesday, October 11.  The Board of Selectmen will then decide on the top three entries at a special event prior to its regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting that evening.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three entries.

 

The top three entries will be submitted, in turn, to the Massachusetts Municipal Association’s, (MMA’s), Third Annual Photography Contest.  The contest will feature entrants from around the state, with winning submissions featured in a wall calendar. 


Entries should be horizontal color photographs, ideally 8 1/2-by-11 (recommended but not required). Black and white photos will be accepted, but will only be considered in the MMA contest as a possible cover shot and will not be eligible for runner-up selection.

Digital photos will be accepted, but must be taken at the highest possible resolution to ensure quality when enlarged for printing in the calendar.  Digital photos may be submitted to:  nbreault@eastlongmeadow.org.  Please note: All digital entries must also be printed on 8 1/2-by-11 paper for judging purposes. (These entrants will be contacted if the electronic file is needed.)
