RECYCLE BIN DISTRIBUTION DAYS ANNOUNCED

The Board of Selectmen today announced two dates for the distribution of recycle bins to Town residents.  Recycle bins will be distributed to Senior Citizens on Friday, July 29, 2005 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasantview Senior Center at 328 North Main Street.  Citizens 60 years of age and older will be eligible to receive a bin with a valid picture identification or proof of residency.  Recycle bins will be distributed to all East Longmeadow residents on Saturday, July 30, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Department of Public Works building at 84 Somers Road.  A valid picture identification or proof of residency will be required on that day, too.  Bins will be distributed one per residence during those hours, or until supplies run out.  The Town will have in excess of 2,000 recycle bins to distribute.  The distribution days will be held rain or shine.

High School students in grades 10-12 for the coming school year that are interested in earning credit towards their community service requirements for graduation should call Principal Freccero at

(413) 525-5466 to sign up to help with distribution.

Residents who have previously left their names during the distribution at Town Hall on June 27 will be contacted by telephone.  Residents are also reminded that blue recycling bins are not mandatory for the new waste reduction program.  Residents can call the Waste Reduction Information Line at (413) 525-5400, extension 106 for more information.

The recycle bins are free of charge to residents and are provided through a grant awarded to the Town by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.
