Residents are advised that trash pickup will follow the holiday schedule for the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s Days. For the week of Christmas, December 25-29, there will be no trash pickup on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, 2006. Monday’s pickup will be on Tuesday, Tuesday’s pickup on Wednesday, and so on though the week. Friday’s pickup will be on Saturday. This will be a commingled containers recycling week.
For the week of New Years, January 1-5, 2007, there will be no trash pickup on New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1, 2007. Monday’s pickup will be on Tuesday, Tuesday’s pickup on Wednesday, and so on though the week. Friday’s pickup will be on Saturday. This will be a paper recycling week.
The Springfield Materials Recycling Facility (the MRF) offers the following tips and reminders for holiday recycling: Please DO include corrugated and paperboard gift boxes in your recycling. Please DO NOT include gift wrap, packing peanuts, plastic material/bubble wrap or Styrofoam in your recycling. Residents with any questions about recycling may call the MRF Recycling Hotline at
1-888-888-0784 extension 2293.
Residents are reminded to put their trash and recyclables out no later than 7:00 a.m. and to leave them out until picked up or 6:00 p.m. In the event that trash has not been picked up by 6:00 p.m. due to poor weather, etc., residents should leave or put their trash out for pickup the next day by 7:00 a.m. Residents that have questions about their pickup should call Central Mass Disposal at
