BOARD OF SELECTMEN ANNOUNCE RECEIPT OF $17,349.00 IN MIIA DIVIDENDS AND CREDITS

The Board of Selectmen today announced the Town of East Longmeadow has received dividends and credits from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association, (MIIA), in the total amount of $17,349.00.  MIIA is the private, non-profit insurance arm of the Massachusetts Municipal Association.  MIIA insures over 350 towns, cities and public entities in Massachusetts.

East Longmeadow was awarded this amount for implementing key risk management procedures.

James D. Driscoll, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen said, “This is a perfect example of good town government.  I am proud of our Department heads and their direct reports for their hard work and dedication towards this effort.  It is because of efforts like this that East Longmeadow is in such strong financial shape.”

For the fourth year, MIIA has offered an innovative incentive program to its members called “The MIIA Rewards Program.”  In order to earn credits under the program, East Longmeadow Town officials and employees participated in various training activities, implemented important loss prevention measures, and instituted management policies, practices and procedures aimed at reducing injuries, accidents, property damage and lawsuits.

Over 307 MIIA members participated in this year’s rewards program and earned $1,434,070.00 in insurance savings.  In four years, the MIIA Rewards Program has returned over $4.5 million to its members.
