SIDEWALK SHOVELING NOTICE
All property
owners are reminded of the importance of removing snow from their
sidewalks. According to Town By-laws,
property owners are advised to remove snow from their sidewalks within 24 hours
after the snow ceases to fall. Should
the sidewalks become covered with ice that cannot be readily moved, property
owners are required to place sand, salt or other materials on them. This is vital to allow safe passage for
pedestrians. In addition, the dumping or disposing of snow in
Residents are also reminded that if they have a hydrant on their front lawn, or in their immediate area, to make sure it is also cleared of snow and ice.
Fire Chief Robert Wallace said, “The
hydrant is for the protection of the entire neighborhood. The few minutes it
takes you to clear away the snow are precious minutes saved during a real
emergency.”
