East Longmeadow Annual Town Report 2003
Home >> Town Departments >> Appeals Board

TO THE SELECTMEN:

In 2003, the Zoning Board of Appeals was presented with 6 petitions requesting zoning variances, of which four were approved. The Board continues to meet on Thursday evenings whenever necessary to serve the Town. It is the desire of the Board to protect the property of the citizens of the Town and diligently exercise the intent of the by-laws to meet the individual needs of the community.

In May, the Board of Selectmen appointed Theron Simpson, Jr. to a full member position in place of Edwin Warren, who was re-appointed to an associate position. Mr. Warren has served the Board for many years and it was his desire to serve as an associate in order to provide the newer members with an opportunity to serve as regular members. John Garwacki was newly appointed as an associate member in place of Alfred Geoffrion who did not seek re-appointment due to the possibility of conflict of interest issues. The members welcome John and look forward to working with him on future projects.

As 2003 comes to a close we look forward to the new year bringing growth and development for keeping East Longmeadow the great community it has been in the past. The members recognize and thank their Administrator, Robyn Macdonald, for her dedication and contribution throughout the year. The members thank the Board of Selectmen for their continued support.
